BIO

Macarena is a world music, jazz & folk singer-songwriter. Her music combines the freedom of the jazz approach with South American popular tunes & rhythms, plus her own song-oriented uplifting compositions featuring black music elements. Macarena is known for her intense performance, warmth, and intimate communication with the public, as well as her full voice rich in expressive nuances that moves effortlessly between Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Her work has been celebrated by press, colleagues and audience; and has led her to sing all throughout her motherland, Europe, Asia and Africa. She has sung in Madrid -Festival Ellas Crean-; Portugal -30º Festival del Almada-; venues in Barcelona, Frankfurt & Amsterdam; Tanger (Morrocco) and Sanya (China); at “Jazzología”, Buenos Aires City Government Jazz Festival; “Bolsón International Jazz Festival”, at the Patagonia among many others. Besides, Macarena has worked as an actress from an early age, performing in numerous musical theatre plays with renowned Argentine companies and directors in many theatres of the mythical Corrients Street of Buenos Aires, and in stadiums all throughout her country. As an actress and art explorer, she enriches her performances with dance, text reading, screenings and other forms of arts in which she has experimented.

Argentine singer-songwriter Macarena Robledo mixes sensible doses of pop, jazz and world music to tell her own musical story. Her Argentine identity coexists organically with a wide international experience, which allows her to blend jazz, soul and South American folk rhythms with exquisite versatility. In the work of academically trained Robledo, who owns a voice rich in nuances and surprising inflections, the audience is carried away into an atmosphere plenty of warmth and sensitivity. Her work has been awarded both by the Argentine´s National Ministry of Culture and the one of Buenos Aires City; and has led her to sing all throughout her motherland, Asia and Europe.

She is engaged to spend one season per year in Europe till 2020, where she develops her career performing throughout the continent with local musicians; and trains vocally with Prof Rabine in Germany, emblematic singing teacher and scientific researcher. Her 5th European tour will be held in 2018, presenting Corazón radar.

Her first album, "The Search" (PAI Records), explores acoustic jazz from a cosmopolitan South American language, and is followed by a web multimedia web album "Journey", based on the Morocco-Europe Tour 2011. Her third album “INSTRUMENTO VIVO” features a selection of the most renowned contemporary musicians in the Argentine scene, was launched in 2014 both in Southamerica and Europe. In Her last Album Corazón radar, her singer songwriter role takes wing: she deepens her roots in South American folk rhythms in fusion with urban contemporary sounds.
